Key Ingredients:
Saw Palmetto Berries Standardized Extract - This inhibits 5-alpha-reductase and 3-alpha-reductase production. It also keeps dihydrotesterone from binding to the cell receptors in the prostate. A comparison was made between treatment with Saw Palmetto and the drug, Proscar. Saw Palmetto was effective on nearly 90% of patients, usually in a period of four to six weeks. In comparison, Proscar is effective in reducing symptoms in less that 50% after taking the drug for one year. Saw Palmetto users experienced no side effects. Proscar has many side effects.
Pygeum Africanum Standardized Extract - Pygeum africanum's primary benefit is its anti-inflammatory effect. It is also synergistic with other substances used. Active ingredients include phytosterols, pentacyclic triterpenes (anti-edema or decongesting action), and ferulic esters which reduce prolactin levels and block accumulation of cholesterol in the prostate.
Secondary Herbs - Watermelon Seed, Echinacea angustifolia and Sandalwood are included in this formula to aid with infections, tissue healing and inflammation.
